Tell me about Soccer for my child in the Spring Cove area

Classic/Premier Soccer

Premier Soccer is an extension of the Travel Soccer concept except it is for more serious youth soccer players who want to take their level of play to the highest youth levels.  As a child develops, they may want to consider Divisions 3, 2, or 1 competition within the PA leagues by joining higher level clubs from the Lancaster area or Pittsburgh area.  FC814, created in 2020, was a merger between Altoona Soccer and Hollidaysburg Soccer Clubs.

PA WEST State Association Overview
Division 6 - recreational/in house  ~similar to MCMP Rec, AYSO
Division 5 - travel          (sunday play, less $$, less travel, Hurricanes Club)
Division 4 - competitive (sunday play, less $$, more travel, Hurricanes Club)
Division 3 - classic        (saturday play more $$, more travel, MDU club)
Division 2 - premier        (saturday play more $$, more travel, MDU club)
Division 1 - elite/champions (saturday play more $$, more travel, MDU club)

With Divisions 3, 2, 1 level, PAWest organizes leagues to play (fall and spring) and 4 competitive state-based tournaments where winners move on to regional and national competitions over the summer.

Lastly another Premier level option provided by PAWest is the opportunity to play in the highly competitive "Olympic Development Program" (ODP).  This is essentially a state all-star team. Kids from our area often tryout for ODP team around age 12-17 to compete against other state-based team, for example, "PA West" plays "NY East" or "Vermont", etc.
