Tell me about Soccer for my child in the Spring Cove area

2024 Spring Recreational Program

Spring Cove Soccer Club (SCSC) and Morrisons Cove Memorial Park (MCMP) are excited for the upcoming spring soccer program beginning next week, April 1st and ending Friday May 24th . Our aim is to create a fun and supportive environment where players can develop their skills, grow their love for the game, and foster friendship among teammates.

Format - Play-Practice-Play

Play: The first 15 minutes of each session will kick off with a 3v3 small-sided game free play, allowing players to warm up and enjoy the game in a relaxed and engaging environment.  There should be little to no coaching happening here other than to get the kids organized playing.

Practice: Following the play segment, we will transition into 20-30 minutes of semi-structured learning activities aimed at enhancing skills, tactics, and understanding of the game.  The activities should align with any of the four pillars of any youth sport: technical, tactical, mental, or physical.  Active coaching can be performed here with game activities and conditional play.  Coaching tips should be consistently applied regardless if the activity is 2v2, 3v3 or 11v11.  Coaches should look to make the activity more challenging or less challenging depending on how well the players are performing.

Play
: The session will conclude with a 30-40 minute pick-up game, providing players with the opportunity to apply what they've learned in a more competitive yet supportive setting.

Important Info

Parent Meeting
There will be a brief parent meeting during the first week of soccer. Each day, the first 10 minutes (6:00-
6:10p) will be used to communicate program information, important updates and answer any questions. All
parents are encouraged to attend.

Shirt Distribution
Soccer shirts will be distributed during the first week of the program if available. Parents will need to
sign/initial receipt of shirt.

Equipment
Players are required to bring shin guards, may bring a marked water bottle and cleats (preferred). No ball is
necessary as equipment will be provided.

Volunteers

We're still looking for enthusiastic adult volunteers to assist our experienced club and high school players in facilitating soccer sessions for our young athletes. The best part? No coaching experience is necessary! Session Plans will be provided to help facilitate the Play-Practice-Play format. All you need to be is a parent that loves to have fun with kids and are able to arrive 30 minutes early. Reply to this message or contact the Program Director using the information below.

Looking forward to a fantastic season ahead!
